Raccoon and skunk damage is most visible in towns, cities and suburban areas, though raccoons and skunks may kill poultry, damage garden or crops, especially sweet corn. Both species are a nuisance around outbuildings and houses when they try to get in and establish residence. Both will scavenge in garbage. Raccoons will nest in chimneys & attics, while skunks will burrow under porches or buildings. Raccoons and skunks dig holes in lawns, golf courses and gardens, looking for grubs and other insects.
